When is an abstract painting finished?

When is an abstract painting finished?

This is a common question and the answer as you might imagine is very subjective. It can only be finished when the artist feels all the elements are just how they want them. This is likely to vary from artist to artist depending on what they were hoping to achieve with their art.

News from the Studio Winter 2021

Welcome to my winter newsletter!

I have been busy at work in my little studio and I would love to do a show & tell of what I have been up to. I have finished a series of three small abstracts and I have some new vases in the making. Wait till you see the fabulous drying stand that my clever partner Gavin whipped up. Genius!

Also, I'm planning to hold a paper mâché pot workshop for those who would like to know first hand all about my pot making process from start to finish. You can read more below.

I would love to hear from you!

With thanks, Jan

Paper Mâché Workshop

In August 2021 I will be holding a terrific workshop in South Fremantle teaching you how to make paper mâché pots from start to finish. This will be a mostly demonstration 3-hour workshop with time for some hands-on if you would like to try your hand at the various steps. Email me if you would like to know more, or if you would like to attend.

Paper mâché is one of my favourite things to do. It’s such a delight to work step-by-step towards a beautiful finished pot or bowl. In this workshop you will learn everything you need to know about making your very own pots and bowls using recycled and inexpensive materials.
